Tom Simmons
My creative practice and academic work is based in sound art & design; in relationships between sound and animated short film; in performances and installations in gallery, concert hall and online environments, and in written publications and conference presentations.
Two strands of my research and creative practice focus on uses of the Internet in sound art & design practices. WebJam and decentred | distributed improvisation explore the use of the Internet and Internet related technologies for distributed media improvisation.
I'm based in London though I also work at Norwich University College of the Arts (UK), lecturing in Sound Art & Design and coordinating research. I am also a partner in European research and teaching exchanges in Lithuania and the Netherlands.
My creative practice is inherently collaborative and interdisciplinary in nature and has involved working with other musicians, artists, film-makers, scientists and researchers. More information can be found on the Projects and Development pages.
